For anyone hoping to avoid the crowds during their visit, a few tips on visitor numbers are worth keeping in mind when booking your date.
Saturdays, Sundays and long-weekend bank holidays are the busiest days.
For the best visiting conditions, we recommend arriving right at opening (10 a.m.) on those days, or choosing weekdays whenever possible!
Summer days can of course be busier during the peak of the first two weeks of August, but it stays manageable compared with the May bank-holiday weekends!
